About Our Trailers
Alycraft boat trailers are built from strong “I”-beam aluminium frames with welded and bolted cross beams. The cross beams are bolted through the “I”-beam to give maximum strength, while still allowing the aluminium to flex without cracking.
Fully-welded aluminium trailers require gusset plates and patches welded over the point of flex and load, to stop the weld cracking — and this defeats the objective of buying an aluminium trailer, as the added gusset plates add weight. Most fully-welded aluminium boat trailers end up weighing very similar to a steel trailer of the same size.
Our trailers are customised to suit your boat. With the majority of our customers wanting a drive-on/off setup, we use a combination of bunks and rollers to build a trailer that is very easy to launch and retrieve, even in the most adverse weather conditions. Our trailers suit both aluminium and fibreglass boats.
Alycraft aluminium boat trailers are built using the maximum amount of non-corrosive parts of any manufacturer. We believe that if a customer wants to invest in an aluminium boat trailer, they want aluminium — not a hybrid of aluminium with steel drawbars, winch posts, roller brackets and so on. Our trailers have full custom-made aluminium winch support brackets and winch posts; our roller brackets, bunks and “V” support bunks are all made from marine-grade aluminium; and all of our fastenings are 316 marine-grade stainless steel. We use nylon washers and Duralac Green paste between all dissimilar metals on the trailer to stop corrosion.
Our guards are fully welded from plate aluminium and not rolled — this gives them superior strength, as we know our customers like to stand on them when loading up their boat.
